LGBTQ+ Couples Session in Cabo

Last week I got to go on one of the best vacations I have ever been on for so many reasons. The timing was absolutely perfect. Prior, I was beyond stressed about my instrument checkride at my flight school. I was terrified I was going to fail and be miserable the entire trip. No matter how hard I studied, I didn’t seem to catch on. Once I passed my stage check, I started to have some faith. I got this! The day of my checkride was two days before the plane took off for Cabo San Lucas.

After months of prepping, the day finally came. It went super well. My checkride examiner was amazing and made me feel like I truly earned that rating. That oral portion was easily one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The flight was just as difficult. There are obviously many things I need to work on and learn, but I did it!! I am now an instrument rated pilot- meaning I can fly through clouds, in weather less than ideal, and I can fly without looking outside.

Now, the fun began. I was, for the first time in a long time, stress free. The resort was beautiful, and nobody was there. Due to Covid-19, the resort was maybe 10% full and everyone was super respectful about wearing their masks around others! I was in heaven. If you know me, you know I am in love with the beach and would give anything to live near one. Living in Arizona…that’s not entirely possible for me right now. But I finally had the opportunity to take pictures on one- something I’ve wanted to do forEVER.

I had been messaging people from Facebook groups and found a couple I was so excited to work with! The day before the session, we realized how far our resorts were and had to cancel. I was devastated. The night before I had planned to take the photos, my friends and I went to one of the resorts fancy restaurants for dinner. Three tables away from us was a couple. Seeing as the resort was less than 10% full, I could hardly find anybody together. This was my chance! But again…if you know me, you know I am extremely awkward and introverted when it comes to these things. So my friend went up to their table and explained my situation. To my surprise, they said yes!!!!

After I gave them my number, I was overwhelmed with joy and relieved I finally get to take these pictures. The next day at sunset, we met and walked over to the beach together. It all seemed REALLY meant to be. Coincidentally, it was Monic’s birthday! Another coincidence is that the beach is a special place to them too, where Monic and Mellanie got married! Their story is absolutely amazing. They are both in the US Navy and met overseas. Nothing came at first, and then they fell for each other and fell hard.

I have never met two people with such a strong and visible love. This LGBTQ+ couples beach session was full of laughter, smiles, and fun. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I aspire to find love as powerful as these ladies.
